Bethesda announces The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor

Bethesda has announced its new expansion to The Elder Scrolls Online. At the HyperX Sports Arena in Las Vegas, Zenimax Online media unveiled to the audience, and to the world on Twitch, Greymoor the newest expansion to Elder Scrolls Online. This newest expansion will follow the release Harrowstorm in March 2020 and continue the events established in Harrowstorm. Greymoor will bring players into ” The Dark Heart of Skyrim,” placing players on a gothic tale of death and blood. As Tamriel is under siege by a Vampire, players will trek into the darkest of places in the world of the Elder Scrolls.

Set 900 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the world is a darker, deadlier place, more sinister than can possibly be imagined. A vampire lord leads an entire army of werewolves, witches, and vampires, twisting the world into a dark age. Greymoor will launch the largest zone yet in Elder Scrolls Online. Players embark on an epic quest tied to the year-long The Heart of Skyrim event, expected to be over 30 hours. A new Antiquities system will encourage players to travel beyond West Skyrim in search of lost artifacts, and a new 12-player trial, Kyrne’s Aegis, will challenge the heartiest of players. Finally, various events and quality-of-life improvements will continue to enhance the experience.

The full details of Greymoor are below.

  • SKYRIM LIKE YOU’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE: 2020’s Chapter, Greymoor, is set to launch in May and June and brings new zones to ESO: Western Skyrim, the frozen homeland of the Nords, and the long-forgotten Blackreach cavern—expanded from what players originally explored in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim—to fight sinister monsters while unlocking the secret of the Dark Heart of Skyrim.
  • A NEW YEAR-LONG ADVENTURE AWAITS: The Dark Heart of Skyrim is a year-long interconnected adventure spanning four updates in 2020: the prologue quest (free to all players) and Harrowstorm DLC dungeon pack, the Greymoor Chapter, the Q3 DLC dungeon pack, and the Q4 Story DLC. While this is one of The Elder Scrolls’ darkest stories yet, there are still heroes that spark hope: returning from the base game are Lyris Titanborn and House Ravenwatch who will take the fight to those that stalk the night.
  • NEW WORLD EVENTS AND GAMEPLAY SYSTEMS: The Greymoor Chapter brings new world events and gameplay systems. Group up with fellow players to quell the magical Harrowstorms terrorizing the land. Additionally, players will travel beyond Western Skyrim and across Tamriel to recover lost artifacts with the new Antiquities system; scry the location of ancient relics and excavate them to uncover Tamriel’s hidden history and unlock powerful and fun rewards for all types of players!

The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoorwill release for PC and Mac on May 18, and Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 2.
