While I missed out on traveling to Seattle for PAX West, I did get an awesome gesture by being given access to the King of Cards demo that was being played there. It’s the pleasure of the newest experiences in gaming from the comfort of my home!

Cyber Sleuth – How Gameplay Impacts an RPG

During my moving trip from West Virginia to Alaska (more on that story later) by truck, I was given a lot of downtime to just hang out and play some games that I haven’t got to sink much time into. Pulling out my Vita, I flopped between Axiom Verge, a Metroid-style game that I reviewed a while back, and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth. After a few hours of wandering about in the world of Digimon...[Read More]

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker’s Memory Drops Teaser Trailer

Digimon has always been one of my favorite shows, especially with its more elaborate stories and cool as hell art style. I truly found my love for the series in Season 3, which had a distinctively darker tone that really captured some interesting dynamics with its characters. Most are into the awesome monsters, which means a Pokemon-like RPG only makes sense. While there have been some awesome gam...[Read More]

There were a ton of awesome things we got to see at PAX East and while there have been a ton of cool previews and news we’ve covered in the aftermath, there’s been something new leaked by those who had a better connection to Sony. I imagine this information was shared in confidence, but somebody, somewhere online has spilled the beans and I have to admit this could change the handheld ...[Read More]

Pato Box combines Punch Out with Mad World

While I was at PAX it was easy to get distracted due to the sheer amount of sensory overload. From the masses of people shuffling about in a current of sorts throughout the expo hall to the tall statues and displays that dominated the scene, there is just so much going on. While tracking down a particular booth, the crowd somehow coaxed me into a little corner of the show, where I saw a black and ...[Read More]

Blending Genres – A Study of Dragon Quest Builders

With how varied the medium of video games can be, there’s an interesting phenomenon that occurs when games combine established genres to make something unique. Video game genres are often fuzzy at best, especially when considering the literal definition of the role-playing game genre can be used to describe 99% of the industry if you stretch a bit. Experimental use of combining genre tropes and me...[Read More]
