RIP Guitar Hero & Rock Band, You Will Be Missed

I am in mourning after learning about the sad demise of Guitar Hero. Activision has cancelled the development of the next installment in the Guitar Hero franchise and on top of that, Viacom has sold Harmonix, the developer of the Rock Band series, making it seem very likely that the end is nigh for music rhythm games.

Rumor: Guitar Hero Gets the Axe Along With True Crime

Since publishing this article, Activision Blizzard has released their 2010 Financial Results. The updated information can be found at the bottom. The Internet is on fire ever since Eurogamer reported that Activision has closed the coffin door on the popular Guitar Hero franchise. In addition to the sad news, the upcoming True Crime: Hong Kong game has been cancelled and layoffs are aplenty.
