Cruis’n Blast – Races onto Nintendo Switch This Fall

The Cruis’n franchise has always had close ties with Nintendo. This dates back to the original 1994 title, Cruis’n USA, which released on N64 2 years later. This can be thanked to what Nintendo had coined “Project Reality”. Somewhere down the line, ownership of Cruis’n transferred over from Midway to Nintendo. The latest entry in the series, which was developed by Raw...[Read More]

Doodle Derby (PC) Review – A Journey From-To

Four years ago, if you told me I would enjoy playing indie games I would call you a liar. Prior to working with Maroonersrock, I wrote for Gamersbliss, which is now no longer in existence. During my time there, I typically covered AAA titles and my only experience with Indie games was rather limited; in fact, I had only tried three indie games, Don’t Die! Dateless Dummy, Too Many Girls to Li...[Read More]

WRC 9: World Racing Championship (PC) Review

Sometimes a race series will make a revolutionary technology jump between seasons. Formula One’s move from the 2.4 liter V8 to the 1.6L V6 between the 2013 and 2014 seasons could be considered one such example. Other changes reflect gradual evolution, combining subtle changes into an updated package. WRC 9 offers the latter type of change to their tried-and-true rally racing formula. Modest all-ar...[Read More]

TT Isle of Man 2 – The Cure For the Wintertime Blues?

As I start writing this bit of news about TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2, it’s -8F degrees outside my office, with a twenty mph wind making it feel like -31. When I went outside to my car earlier, the wind literally took my breath away. My beloved Harley-Davidson Sportster is slumbering in the garage, hooked up to a battery tender, and hasn’t moved since November. At this rate, she may not mo...[Read More]

Horizon Chase Turbo PAX Hands-On Preview

Being only the tender age of 19, I am too young to feel adequate nostalgia for the 80s and 90s racing games. I can, however, recognize a beautiful game when I see one. Which is exactly what Horizon Chase Turbo by Aquiris Game Studios is. Drawing from games like Out Run, Lotus Turbo Challenge, Top Gear (SNES), and Rush, Horizon Chase Turbo seeks to resurrect and reinvent that classic era of racing....[Read More]
