Skylanders Follow-up Takes a Giant Leap Forward

Skylanders Follow-up Takes a Giant Leap Forward

I know, that’s a terrible title. We generally go for more informative titles, but I’m feeling a bit saucy and wanted to make a stupid title joke, so sue me.Let’s get to the point. Skylanders was a fantastic game for kids and adults, and has spawned an incredibly powerful addiction to little RFID toys that have resulted in sold out shelves and inflated eBay prices. Only a fool would not capitalize on that, and as you must know, Activision is not a fool. Enter: Skylanders Giants, a new game in what is now being referred to as the Skylanders franchise.

Skylanders Giants is not just a new game, however. It is also a new set of eight regular sized Skylander toys and eight titularly giant sized Skylander toys, which come in at roughly twice the size as a toy and as an in-game character. A set of characters will also have light-up abilities on the toys, bringing them to life when near or on a Portal, and granting them additional abilities in-game. Now, the best part. All of your currently collected Skylanders are 100% compatible with Skylanders Giants. Now, for the best best part. All of your stats and customizations will remain intact and functional for each character that you bring over into the new adventure.

Skylanders Giants will be debuted in more detail next week at the North American International Toy Fair.
