Get ready for more LEGO games on your mobile devices. TT Games, the developer responsible for every LEGO game released since the original LEGO Star Wars, announced today that they’re spinning off a new studio called TT Games Brighton specifically to focus on bringing new LEGO games to mobile platforms.

Under the leadership of Jason Avent, founder and former head of Boss Alien, the new TT Games Brighton will focus on bringing new LEGO titles to pretty much everything. Tom Stone, Managing Director of TT Games had this to say about the expansion: “There is a huge opportunity for LEGO games on mobile. We’re extraordinarily fortunate to have acquired Playdemic in 2016 as a specialist in this area, and they’re working on a new LEGO title in addition to their phenomenally successful Golf Clash. Now we can grow our capability even further under the leadership of Jason Avent, founder of Boss Alien and creator of CSR Racing. Jason is one of the world’s most experienced and capable developers in this space, with a passionate affinity for LEGO and an incredibly exciting vision for the new team.”

This won’t mark the first time LEGO games have appeared on mobile, however. LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The LEGO Batman Movie Game, LEGO Batman: DC Super Heroes, LEGO Dimensions, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, LEGO, Jurassic World, and LEGO Batman: Beyond Gotham have all received iOS and Android ports. It is not known at this time whether TT Games Brighton will serve as an in-house studio for porting future TT Games titles to mobile, or whether they will be releasing unique new titles that are specifically optimized for mobile. Perhaps a bit of both.

LEGO Star Wars TFA Missing Arm

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released across numerous platforms, including iOS

There would certainly be precedent for that. For example, the console and Nintendo DS versions of LEGO Batman 2: Beyond Gotham differ enough to essentially be completely different games that share art assets ad an overall plot. The first official title from the new studio hasn’t been announced yet, hopefully we’ll find out what WBEI is planning for this studio later this year.
