3rd Annual Pokemon Go Winter Event is Live

Trainers around the world will have the opportunity to catch Pokemon first discovered in the Sinnoh Region during the 3rd annual Pokemon Go Winter Event. The new Winter event welcomes a variety of changes to the continually evolving game. From December 18th, 2018 to January 2nd, 2019, trainers will have the opportunity to catch a variety of Ice-type Pokemon including the gift presenting Pokemon Delibird.

The Winter event welcomes new ice type and holiday-themed Pokemon alongside a variety of bonuses for trainers during the event. Trainers have the opportunity to catch Snover, Munchlax, Chingling, Croagunk, Bronzor, Sneasel, a Shiny Delibird, and Santa Hat Pikachu. Trainers will have the opportunity to catch shiny versions of different Pokemon; players will be able to find Shiny versions of the Pikachu, Marill, Shelder, and Delibird.  Attack form Deoxys flys in to show that it is not a pushover in the new EX-raid. The Winter events cover art implies that the Legendary lake guardians Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit. These three lake guardians will probably be coming to Pokemon Go in January as either the new level 5 raids or the field research event reward.

Throughout the event, trainers will gain a variety of bonuses to help them reach the level 40 milestone and expand their Sinnoh Pokedex; trainers will also receive a single-use incubator each day on their first spin of the Pokestop. Starting on December 22nd to 26th, players will receive twice as much stardust per catch. From December 26th to December 30th, trainers will receive double the catch experience. Finally, on December 30th to January 2nd, all incubators will be twice as effective as their normal counterparts.

The event will allow players to hatch a different variety of Pokemon from the 7 km eggs including Azurill, Smoochum, and Mantyke. For more information about the 3rd annual Winter event, go to Niantic’s website for additional details.
