Niantic Announces World Tourism Day Event in Pokemon Go

Last month, Pokemon Go had its biggest month since the game’s original release. Over the last year, Niantic has stepped up to the plate and hit the ball out of the park. Niantic has given trainers a reason to go out and socialize with their peers. Over the summer, the Pokemon Go team planned different events to get trainers to work together. Most notably, Trainers can now do Legendary raids with each other on a regular basis. These events, have helped to grow the Pokemon Go community and the World Tourism Day event will continue the current pattern.

Earlier this week, Niantic announced the World Tourism Day event to celebrate the spirit of travel. Niantic has partnered with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) to promote travel and exploration. Pokemon has always been about going on new adventures, making new friends, and exploring the world around you. Sadly, as we have grown up we have lost that sense of adventure. This event looks to promote exploration. Try traveling somewhere new and meet new people.

According to Niantic, both Pokemon Go Fest  2019 Chicago and Dortmund welcomed guests from around the world. In fact, Pokémon GO Fest Chicago 2019 had visitors from 68 countries and regions. On the other hand, Pokémon GO Fest Dortmund 2019 showed that half of all visitors were international and came from 90 different countries and regions to join in the festivities. This shows that people are willing to travel if they have a goal in mind. Hopefully, this event will inspire others to travel and see the world.
