Jack Black Cast as Claptrap for Borderlands Movie

The Borderlands movie was first announced during the chaotic year of 2020. Over the last year, many have speculated who might cast for the upcoming film. Over the last two months, Lionsgate has revealed three of the cast members for the upcoming movie The first character to be revealed was Lilith who will be played by Cate Blanchett. The second announcement revealed that Kevin Hart will play Roland; this casting choice left many confused about the direction The Borderlands movie was going. Kevin Hart can be an enjoyable actor but does not live up to the stature and the personality of Roland.

Many in the community feel that Hart would be better suited to play Claptrap. For those who do not know who Claptrap is, you probably only came in due to Jack Black. Claptrap is pretty much the comedic relief of the series. In a game that could be considered a dark tale, he often makes dark scenes less serious. Some of the game’s most iconic scenes involve Claptrap. Today we learned that Jack Black has been cast as Claptrap. This casting choice makes more sense than Harts. Hopefully, with the two’s former chemistry from the Jumanji movies, they will be able to make The Borderlands movie into comedic gold. In addition to Black, Jamie Lee Curtis has been cast as Patricia Tannis.
