Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy Definitive Edition – Reveal

GTA Trilogy

What’s old is new again! Many games of the past have been returning for a modern audience. Many take the form of an HD remake or remaster. For months there have been rumors of an upcoming remake for the first three, fully 3D Grand Theft Auto games. While Rockstar Games have remained silent on the subject, the cat’s finally out of the bag. Rockstar has officially confirmed Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.

Three Legends Reborn

In celebration of GTA III’s 20th anniversary, Rockstar has officially revealed Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. This trilogy will feature the first three GTA titles to fully utilize three-dimensional gameplay. This includes Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. These three titles were chosen, as they helped shape and form the open-world genre of gaming. Players will soon be returning to the streets of Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas, in an all-new way. Each title will feature “across-the-board upgrades” which include modernizing the controls, tweaking the gameplay, and overhauling the visuals; All while retaining the iconic style the original titles are known for.

Heading To Most Platforms

Slated to release later this year, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will arrive on current generation hardware. This includes Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Also slated to release in the first half of 2022 are an iOS and Android port. While no other information on the trilogy has been revealed, Rockstar did confirm they would begin removing older titles from digital retailers. Previous editions are currently still available on platforms such as Steam, PlayStation Network, and both the Android and Apple app stores. Rockstar Games will begin delisting these titles beginning the week of October 11th.
