For quite some time I was mainly a single screen owner when it came to desktop computers. I owned a 23″ Asus monitor and that was about it. I had to mix in gaming and every day work and running Marooners’ Rock on a normal basis. I normally had my desk cluttered with random games, plushies, business cards, and streaming hardware—even to the point where I had to use my phone to see chat when streaming, since I enjoy having my games full screen.
Fast forward to 2018, and I decided to pick up a second monitor—a Samsung 27″ Curved Monitor. That alone took up a lot of space and left me with little room. With nowhere else to put my clutter, I figured it was time to invest in some mounting hardware.
During PAX East, I stopped by the Echogear booth, and spoke with Lauren about the brand and how they came to be; it was nice to know some of the crew there got their start on mounts for TV’s. We’ve seen many mounts for TV’s over the years, but what about affordable setups for those that game, live stream, or just enjoy having a two or more monitor setup? Shortly after PAX and me catching up with the team at Echogear, they sent over the Dual Monitor Desk Mount With Dynamic Gas Spring Adjustment for review. To be honest, after playing around with the unit at PAX it was something I was looking forward to testing out to see how it would help me from day-to-day. Boy, did it ever help!
Once my unit showed up, I quickly put the unit together, which took no time at all. If I could put a time on it, it would take at least 30 minutes to setup. The book it comes with tells you how to put the mount together is an easy and enjoyable read. Quite a bit of it included little comments that were gaming related, such as health hearts, telling you what step you are on, and Easter-eggs such as that you’ll need a BFG, a Nuke, and some other gaming related items to build the mount. Here are the Dual Monitor Mount specifications:

As I’ve already stated, the set-up time alone has me pleased about how quickly and easy it will be for anyone. Echogear’s Dual Monitor Desk Mount made sure to take out all the heavy-duty work from you when it comes to being able to move the mount from location to location. I was honestly dreading putting on the monitors themselves, but it was simple as putting two screws in my monitor, slowly placing it on the mount, and installing the other screws.
If you’re like me, what places would be great for a mount like this? As someone who happens to stream, work on some charity events, as well as normal use for gaming, and keeping in touch with people, a product like this would be great for both office and home use. Same with streaming: being able to have setups like Discord and XSplit running on one monitor while you game on the other. Another feature I liked a lot was the cable management for the setup. On each arm of the mount there is channel on the lower arms of each that will fit you power cables, as well as HDMI cables or other choice of connection. However, it would’ve been great to continue with the cable management within the back part of the stand going under my desk.
In the end, so much space has been opened on my desk so I can set up a fight stick for fighting games, more plushies, a handful card games and more room for my streaming setup. While the $158.99 price seems steep, it’s not really breaking the bank. From time to time the team at Echogear puts many of its units on sale, so you just might be able to get this unit or others cheaper right now. Personally, I’d totally pick up another one of these mounts if I had the chance to build another PC. Overall, the Dual Monitor Mount from Echogear is a good investment. Other units that Echogear has available includes: Single Monitor Desk Mount With Articulating Arm; Single Monitor Desk Mount With Dynamic Gas Spring Adjustment; Dual Monitor Desk Mount With Dynamic Gas Spring Adjustment; and the Adjustable Triple Monitor Desk Mount. With so much to pick from, Echogear has you squared away with what mounts you may need.
