Many of you know that Chris has a large family, and when I say large, it doesn’t even begin to cover the amount of people. With that being said, Chris has a very talented cousin named Lee. Lee is also married to a talented woman named Lianne. With their powers combined, they are Leee Designs, and also Angry Cow. Needing a new logo for World of Meh!, and also having seen some of their work, Chris and I both agreed that they would be a perfect fit for us. Plus we wanted to help get their name out there since this is a new business for them.
For those of you who are looking for graphic designers, these two are so easy to work with. Here’s how it happened:
I called Lianne up and asked her if she would have the time, and be willing to help create a logo for us. I had an idea in my head so I said I would email it to her. The drawing was, literally, me doodling the idea out, using a black Sharpee on a white piece of paper. It looked like ass, but they are both so creative that I knew it wouldn’t be a problem. Chris and I aren’t picky either, so all I asked was that it had no pink, wasn’t girlie/feminine, and that it had that modern, tech feel since that is how the template of our site is.
Not even a day or two later I had a couple of designs in my inbox to look at. She was fast! In both designs, she captured the spirit that I was looking for, but the original logos were a little too vertical for what we needed them for. So, what did I do? I told her to get really creative, have them be a little more horizontal, and just go crazy. When working with somebody who is creative, or who is an artist, I’ve found through past experiences that when you give them that freedom, they can produce some really amazing stuff. One major time was when I was getting my first tattoo. I told the guy what I wanted, the color scheme, and for him to just go for it because I trusted him. The tattoo came out incredible, and I could tell the guy really enjoyed working on it. Since I knew Lianne, there was no doubt in my mind regarding what she would come up with. Due to her having a busy schedule, with personal things, she let me know ahead of time that it might be a couple of days, and it wasn’t a problem since we weren’t on a deadline or anything.
Well, I can tell you all that it was well worth the wait. As soon as I opened the email with the finished logo, I immediately knew it was ‘the one’. What was the finished product? Check it out!
Both logos, one being a banner and the other for when we need avatars on various websites (Twitter, Facebook), capture what we are all about. All of the different topics we discuss, all of our hobbies, and it has that glossy, modern, tech look I was looking for. In the future, should we need anything, I already know who I’m contacting, and I would highly recommend them to anybody.
