For over five years and over 10 different versions, Guitar Hero has been one of the leading video game franchises for shedding light on new musical talent. The latest upcoming release, Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock will hopefully help increase the album sales of 11 lucky artists whose work has never been featured in a Guitar Hero game before now.The Guitar Hero games have helped me discover a wide variety of artists. From Muse to Freezepop, many of my personal faves I heard for the first time as I pretended to be the rock gods that make up their musical menageries. But aside from that, Guitar Hero has been responsible for helping lots of new artists find success, with many older artists seeing a rise in sales of decades old albums. Activision hopes to help a few more of those struggling or not-so-struggling acts with it’s next installment, Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock.
The game, with an impressive 90+ tracklist, will feature 11 songs from artists whose music has never before been featured in a Guitar Hero game. They are:
- Anberlin – “The Feel Good Drag”
- Arch Enemy – “Nemesis”
- The Dillinger Escape Plan – “Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants”
- John 5 – “Black Widow Of La Porte”
- Neil Young – “Rockin’ In The Free World”
- Orianthi – “Suffocated”
- Queensrÿche – “Jet City Woman”
- Red Rider – “Lunatic Fringe”
- RX Bandits – “It’s Only Another Parsec…”
- Snot – “Deadfall”
- Tesla – “Modern Day Cowboy”
Joey Milligan, lead guitarist for Anberlin, said “It is surreal to have our name next to so many great bands and amazing songs! I can’t wait to play this!” He feels it is a huge honor to be included in the game.
“One of the great things about Guitar Hero is that it’s in a unique position to expose millions of people to great music by bands they may otherwise never listen to,” said Tim Riley, Vice President of Music Affairs for Guitar Hero.
Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock touts a host of all-new gameplay features in which players can strum, drum, flail and wail their way on a epic journey to save rock and roll. Activision and Neversoft promise the most immersive music videogame experience to date, with the likes of Black Sabbath, Queen, Muse and KISS bringing their rock goodness home to you. The game offers a complete interactive and connected experience bringing friends and foes to the stage in the ultimate rock music experience.
