Dungeons and Dragons. Books? Check. Miniatures? Check. Dark, gloomy basement? Check. New online game? Che… wait, what? Yep, that’s right – new online game. Atari Europe has announced a new online installment of Neverwinter based on the hit tabletop game, Dungeons and Dragons produced by Wizards of the Coast.
Take your pick from one of the five classic D&D classes and kick butt with either the computer or friends in an alliance of up to five people. Neverwinter will also allow you to either follow the pre-made storyline or create your own. Then take your creation, and share it with your in-game world! Think of yourself as the DM of PC gaming!
With next-generation graphics and an ever-evolving world, Neverwinter will allow you to have the classic D&D experience – completed by 4th Edition rules – right there on your PC!
As if a great new PC game wasn’t enough, author R. A. Salvatore and Wizards of the Coast will be teaming up with Atari Europe to produce a multi-platform event with both a new tabletop game and book trilogy being released alongside Neverwinter. Neverwinter Is set to release winter 2011, while R. A. Salvatore’s book, titled Gauntlgrym, it set to be released on October 5.
Gauntlgrym will lay the foundation for the Neverwinter PC game; detailing characters, events, storylines, environments, as well as the monsters you may face in the PC game. Catch it all starting October 5!
