Did you like the Chris Nolan movie that has become the critical and commercial success of the year? Do you like video games? Well my friend, do I have news for you!
Yes, that’s right. Chris Nolan’s Inception, which is pretty much the best damn movie of the year, might be getting a video game spin off according to Variety. You see, that’s what happens when a movie makes $753 million world wide. The suits try to figure out how to make even more money off of it.
“We are looking at doing is developing a videogame based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can’t fit into a feature film,” Nolan said while promoting the film before its opening in Italy. “That’s something we’ve been talking about and are looking at doing long term, in a couple of years.”
You know why this is exciting? Why this might be good? Look at the best video game adaptations. GoldenEye. Batman: Arkham Asylum. Ghostbusters. They didn’t have to come out at any specific date. The developers had as much time as they needed to make these games awesome. They were given love and care and weren’t just quick cash ins. From Nolan’s words, I’d think that any Inception video game would be getting the same treatment. They’re making this game because they want to tell a new story, not because they have to cash in on the movie when its released.
Oh, also, he apparently talked about Batman 3 as well. IGN says that he said WB hasn’t told him he isn’t doing it. Oh gee, you think?
