One week ago Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures launched. Within that time the family friendly free to play MMO based on Cartoon Network’s hit series has registered one million players.
Now I know what you’re thinking. You want quotes from some of the people behind this game. Don’t worry slugger. I’ve got you covered.
“We are thrilled to have hit the one million player mark in Clone Wars Adventures so quickly and look forward to seeing the player community continue to grow,” said John Smedley, president of Sony Online Entertainment. “Combining the technology, design infrastructure, and lessons learned from Free Realms with the amazing Clone Wars brand, we knew we could make a great game, and we’re happy to see that fans of all ages are enjoying the content as much as we enjoyed creating it.”
“Star Wars is a franchise that has the power to transcend generations and appeal to fans both young and old,” said Mary Bihr, VP of Global Publishing at LucasArts. “The game provides kids with a great way to extend the Clone Wars experience in a fully realized virtual world. They can watch the weekly series, and then share a collective experience with their friends.”
So in commemoration of reaching one million so damn fast, Sony Online Entertainment and LucasArts are doing some special things for the players. First you’ve got the Golden Mouse Droid pet. But what do you do with a Golden Mouse Droid pet? Why, take it to a virtual party of course! Today at 3 PDT you can party down, with a special party for Jedi members at the Officer’s Club at 4 PDT.
Though I do have to ask, aren’t you guys in the middle of a war? Do you really have time for parties and Golden Mouse Droids? See, this is why the Sith were able to take over. Too many parties.
