Actually, we can’t really call it Batman 3 anymore. Christopher Nolan, in an interview with HeroComplex, has stated that the third of his Batman movies will be called The Dark Knight Rises. Other things to rise from this news: fanboy hype and Internet speculation.
Okay, first thing’s first. The villain of the movie? Yeah, it won’t be the Riddler. Which is kind of unfortunate, as I’d love to see Nolan’s take on good ol’ Eddie Nigma. More annoyingly, he did not state who the villain would be. It could be anyone from Hugo Strange to Black Mask to friggin’ Crazy Quilt. Actually, Chris Nolan’s Crazy Quilt…that has promise…
Speaking of characters, Nolan talks a bit about what old and new faces we might be seeing in this film. “We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones,” said Nolan. He later went on to say, “Our ambition for the third movie is to complete a story that has begun.”
He also said that he convinced WB to not film DKR in 3D, which gets a big THANK GOD from me. See this guy? Really sick of 3D. But that doesn’t mean Nolan won’t be trying some new stuff in the movie. He’s going to be trying out new cameras for filming in IMAX.
And fanboy hype begins…now!
