Are you looking for a gift for the holidays for that special someone? Perhaps the cousin you know LOVES Batman, but you’re not really all too sure what the “in” items are this holiday season? Well, that’s where I come in! Check out this holiday guide full of comic ideas for Nov/Dec! Let’s admit it, if you’re reading this, you’ve already admitted you’ve got a little geek in you! So, why not embrace it, grab some hot cocoa, and curl up next to the fire to a good comic book, yourself?!
The first mentionable comic is DC Universe Online Legends, a 26-issue, bi-weekly series that is sure to make any superhero fan smile! DC Universe Online: Legends ties in directly with the upcoming DC Universe Online MMO by Sony Online Entertainment, which Chris has the wonderful opportunity of viewing recently! Written by Marv Wolfman and Tony Bedard and featuring artwork by Oliver Nome, Michael Lopez and Livio Ramondelli, this series shows us Lex Luthor turning to Brainiac for some not-so-friendly advice towards meeting a common goal – defeating mutual enemy, Superman.
Diamond Comic Distributors refers to this next preview as the “event of the year”! Batman Returns is a one-shot comic, available in retailers November 17 for a low price of $4.99. Written by Grant Morrisson and featuring fantastic artwork by David Finch and Scott Williams, this comic is the bridge between two chapters in Batman’s legacy. Previous books such as The Return of Bruce Wayne, Batman & Robin and Bruce Wayne – The Road home have shared with us lots of historical Batman moments such as Damian, Batman’s son becoming the new Robin, and Dick Grayson taking over the role of Batman, but with the “real” Batman on his way home, where will that leave Dick Grayson?
Some other great books – and some of my favorites – you may want to check out are the Crossed series, American Vampire and Assassin’s Creed: The Fall.
Most comics follow a series, and so, once an issue has been released and sold, it is rare it is reprinted until it is compiled and a trade paperback is released. With the release of The Walking Dead on television, many fans are beginning to wonder how it all started. Well, grab any of the Walking Dead books, and I promise you won’t be disappointed!
