That’s right. Just to remind you who have forgotten, the mind behind Pan’s Labyrinth and the Hellboy movies is making an H.P. Lovecraft style horror game with THQ. The best part? We’ll be able to see it soon.
Yesterday I reported on what THQ EVP of Core Games Danny Bilson said at the IGDA Leadership Forum about the future of the Darksiders series. Well, thanks to Joystiq, we know that’s not all he talked about. He also talked up the new game coming from Guillermo del Toro.
“He’s a gamer who wants to make a great game,” said Bilson “and has very interesting points of view and is partnered very closely with myself and my writing partner, Paul.” And here’s the best part. Bilson said that they, “will be announcing the game title and the studio and all of that on the VGA awards in about a month.”
So, let’s recap. Guillermo del Toro. Horror game. Lovecraft. THQ. Next month. Is it just me, or is this the most fantastic news since the beginning of ever? The last big Lovecraft game we had was Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. Just imagine what the guy who designed the world of Pan’s Labyrinth can do with the Lovecraft mythos.
