Last month BioWare teased us all with a trailer saying that, during the 2010 Spike TV Video Game Awards, they would be announcing a new game. Many guesses were thrown around, and many pointed towards Mass Effect 3. I guessed wrong, but that is only because I haven’t played any of the games and actually am not a fan. Don’t judge me.
Those who are fans of the game know that the Mass Effect series is a trilogy, so this very well could be the end of the line for Commander Shepard unless BioWare changes their minds and keeps it going. The series is a massive hit afterall.
In the teaser trailer, we see that London has been invaded and is a complete mess. Buildings are destroyed, things are on fire and smoke is in the air, millions of humans have perished, and other major cities all over the world are under attack as well. Graphically everything is stunning, but BioWare always excels in that department. One major thing of note to be excited for is that, when the game launches sometime during Holiday 2011, it will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
Dr. Ray Muzyka, Group General Manager and Co-Founder of BioWare had this to say about the success of Mass Effect 2 and how that will play into Mass Effect 3:
“At BioWare, we are always driving ourselves to improve and I firmly believe our best work is still ahead of us. We could not be prouder of the team’s accomplishments with Mass Effect 2, and are excited and humbled by all of the recognition the game has received so far. We can’t wait to show you what the team is doing to make Mass Effect 3 an even bigger success.”
So, for all you fans of Mass Effect out there, how excited are you knowing that the next game is only a year away? Have you already pre-ordered it at your local game store, or are you waiting to see what additional news will be released over the coming months? Let us know what you think in a comment below!
