Finally, after three years of waiting, I get to eat some more Mafia hearts and play around in more freaky WWI hell-type areas. Oh, joy!
I really did love the first Darkness game. Based on the comic series from Top Cow, the game really had everything you could want. Guns, violence, neat characters, creepy monsters, tentacles, and heart eating. Really, there is an eat a heart button. Hell, I barely fired my guns as it was so much fun just using my Darkness tentacles to stab people through the torso. The voice for the Darkness was pretty damn creepy too. But best of all, the game really makes you feel like the unfortunate protagonist of the game. It gets you inside of Jackie Estacado’s head, and when tragedy befalls him, like it does so many other comic book heroes, you really want him to pay those bastards back. This is done by stabbing them through the torso and then eating their heart with the eat a heart button.
So, now here comes Darkness II. We know nothing about it other than the fact that it is a sequel to The Darkness and that it takes place two years after the first game. What has befallen poor Jackie and his creepy tentacle buddies in the years since he went all postal on his Mafioso buddies? What new sinister forces will be unleashed against him this time? Damned if I know. But I tell you one thing: I am looking forward to it.
The Darkness II will be out for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC sometime this fall.
