Well, it looks like I wasn’t too far off! Yesterday I shared with you all my opinions about the Assassin’s Creed Facebook campaign and, not too gloat or anything (ok, maybe just a little), I was pretty damn close! If you somehow missed that awesome article, check it out here and then come back to get the 411 on what’s going down this November.
Just a few minutes ago Ubisoft and Game Informer let the cat out of the bag, telling us what we were all pretty much suspecting but also giving us other details to really make us speculate for the months to come. Assassin’s Creed Revelations will have us playing not only as Ezio but Altaïr as well. I should probably also specify that we’ll play as Desmond too but that should be a given. Revelations will take place after the events of Brotherhood where Ezio will go and follow in the footsteps of Altaïr, his mentor, and basically kill a lot of people along the way. His journey will take him to… wait for it… Constantinople smack dab in the middle of the Ottoman Empire where a bunch of Templars are up to no good again.
Other details were given such as how the online multiplayer from Brotherhood will be carried over to Revelations, but with more maps, more characters to play as, and more modes giving players the chance to really refine and polish those shanking skills. Another new aspect of the game was revealed, and I’m actually really excited about it: players will be able to manipulate Desmond’s memories of Altaïr and Ezio in the Animus with the chance to unlock and decipher stuff from the past and more importantly the future.
The first screenshot was released as well and we see Ezio hanging off of the side of a building in Constantinople with the Hagia Sophia in the background. There really isn’t much to make of it other than the fact that we now have a visual, but the title of the image had the word hookblade in it so at least we know how he hasn’t lost his grip.
For those of you wanting more info on Revelations, be sure to pick up the June issue of Game Informer as it will be not only their cover, but they will have several pages filled to the brim with hidden blade goodness. If that’s not enough for you, Revelations will be at E3 and we will be too, so you know that we’ll be all over this game until its November release for the 360 and PS3.
So, what do you all think? Were you wanting a new assassin or are you happy to play as both Altaïr and Ezio? After playing as Ezio in II and Brotherhood are you a little burnt out on him or do you think this tie-in with Altaïr will breathe some new life into the series? Also, how do you think this will affect Desmond as he is, presumably, still in a coma? Let us know in a comment below!
