Review: Jedi & Sith Bath Robes

Review: Jedi & Sith Bath Robes

For a Jedi, defending the galaxy from their vile Sith counterparts is tiring work. That’s why, when they get back to the Jedi Temple, the first things on their minds are relaxation and rest. A nice Force backrub, a cool shower, and a comfortable bathrobe to lounge around in. And when a Jedi lounges, they lounge in style. Enter the Jedi Bathrobe.

While initially a bit scratchy, the 100% cotton Jedi and Sith bathrobes available at ThinkGeek become softer and more comfortable with extended wear and use. Available in brown with the Jedi emblem, or black with the Sith emblem, the officially licensed bathrobes are designed with flared sleeves and large hoods to provide a more genuine robe experience. Two pockets, about the size of CD jewel cases, and a 100% cotton belt round out the basic design of the bathrobes.

The bathrobes are designed to be one size fits all for adults. This…is debatable, depending on how you define “fits.” For a shorter person, in the mid 5′ height range, the bathrobe flows comfortable onto the ground, as you can see in the Sith robe pictures. For a taller person, such as the 6’1″ height range, the robe actually cuts short of touching the ground by up to five inches. The only other issue is with the Jedi bathrobe. It’s brown…but not quite the right shade of brown to really match the standard Jedi robe color.

The logo embroidery is fantastic, and is a wonderful detail addition to the robe. The flared sleeves are incredibly comfortable, and the hood is very mysterious and/or sinister, depending on your preference. Overall, the bathrobes are very well designed, very comfortable, and very cool.

Halloween is coming up, and while you may prefer a more standard style Jedi robe, the Sith of you out there won’t be able to find one at ThinkGeek other than this bathrobe. If you’re part of a matching set, the bathrobes are going to be a better choice than the standard Jedi Robe offered. At $89.99, it’s a bit more expensive, but you’ll also get year-round use out of it, so it becomes well worth the price.
