Welcome back for another happy hour at MMO’s Tavern.
In keeping with tradition, Blizzard announced something as soon as that week’s MMO’s Tavern is posted. Since last Friday, Blizzard sent out another 450,000 beta invites for the Mists of Pandaria beta test. I just want to reiterate what I said on the first week, always check your battle.net account page to see if you have gotten beta access. Times like this are a phisher’s delight and they will be out in full force. That said, new beta testers can experience the Pandaren starting zone, the Wandering Isle, as well as one of the intro zones for the new continent of Pandaria, the Jade Forest. Players can also venture into the Temple of the Jade Serpent, the first new 5-man dungeon of the expansion. Below is a video of the dungeon including boss encounters and strategies. I know I said I’d do a video of the Pandaren starting zone but I lied. Besides, this is a lot better than a bunch of people running around with punny panda names.

April Fool’s day came and went and it brought with it the anticipated jokes and pranks. Blizzard had another strong showing this year with the Zergotchi authenticator and the Blizzard Kidzz games line. Links and information for the Blizzard pranks and jokes can be found here. Star Wars: The Old Republic got in on the action for their first April Fool’s with their “Ship Droid Experience” which you can find here.
I missed this one last week and I’m sad I did because I still have a soft spot for this game but still, to this day, do not know why. Final Fantasy XI released their March version update which came with all sorts of new features. Honestly, I don’t even know what half of them even mean. Last time I played the game everyone told me that Dragoons were terrible but still insisted that they needed them in parties. For those of you that are interested here’s a link to the patch notes.
Have you heard of The Secret World? Who am I kidding, of course you haven’t, it’s secret. That was bad, striking that joke from the records. The Secret World, developed by Funcom, announced their preorder bonuses for their June 19th release date. Those who preorder the game will get guaranteed beta access when the public beta opens in May, 4 days of early access to the game, and an in game item which boosts experience gain. There’s more stuff too like an exclusive in game tee shirt(yay?), name reservation(who doesn’t want to reserve Pwnsusohard?), and one of three in game combat ally pets. In all seriousness, these are some pretty cool preorder bonuses and The Secret World does look like a pretty good game from a developer with a proven track record in the genre, Anarchy Online is still going strong and is kind of free to play these days.
Before I go this week I wanted to reach out to you, the readers, and ask what you’d like to see from the feature. Feel free to leave a comment here on the article or send me a message on twitter, I’ll do my best to respond to every comment.
I think that’s about enough for this week. I’ll be back with more news from MMO’s Tavern next week, so until then keep them vorpal blades swinging but not in here. I don’t like fights in my tavern. If you liked any of our previous videos, you can find them at our YouTube channel just past the link.
