Review: EinsteinModz Xbox 360 Controller

Review: EinsteinModz Xbox 360 Controller

Most standard Xbox 360 controllers, whether they’re manufactured by Microsoft or by a third party, are pretty much the same in every way but price. That’s not the case with the Xbox 360 controller I’ve been using recently. When it comes to modding, I support it to a certain point, ranging from cosmetic changes to additional functionality. The team at EinsteinModz creates some very unique looking mods for controllers, ranging from glowing thumb sticks, backlit ABXY buttons, and controller face paint.

Enough of my babbling…take a look at this review of one of the many controllers that EinsteinModz offers.

Pictured below is the controller that was sent my way for review. The controller is very clean, with a great job of detail in the paint job and well done modifications within the device. Let’s face it, most of us who are interested in custom controllers have thought about doing it ourselves at least once or twice. Without the right tools and materials, though, it would most likely look like crap. With EinsteinModz controllers, you can tell that a lot of time and effort is put into the customization, from the paint and LEDs to the rapid fire mods and more. I prefer controllers without rapid fire mods, or any other mods for that matter, since I hate playing against people who use those mods for an unbalanced advantage.

When it comes to modifying the controller for an even better look, EinsteinModz offers a wide variety of LED light colors, buttons that look like bullets, and more. There’s so much that can be done to a controller, it really is amazing. It makes me wonder why Microsoft hasn’t offered a first-party customization feature for doing this very thing to their controllers. Whatever the case, EinsteinModz does quality work. A side bonus of the LED lights in a customized EinsteinModz controller is that it can act as a battery life indicator. While playing, I noticed the LEDs starting to dim. I checked my battery life, and saw that I was down to my last bar, which gave me time to stop what I was playing and get it charged.

If you’re in the market for a good custom controller, whether it’s for the appearance or for the added functionality, EinsteinModz is definitely a company worth checking out. Microsoft is really leaving a lot of money on the table by not offering customized controller, and they could really learn a thing or two from how EinsteinModz does their work. Yes, Microsoft releases custom controllers for certain games/products (Fable III, Star Wars Kinect, etc.), but what about other games that people enjoy? Regardless, with EinsteinModz you definitely get what you pay for, if it’s a few bucks for a small item or up to nearly $130 or more for something really custom. You’ll be using the device for a long time, and your friends will definitely be jealous. EinsteinModz is sure to see me as a future customer when the time comes to pick up a new controller. They provide top quality work. Now if only they’d expand their offerings!
