I’m not the biggest MMO fan, so it takes quite a bit to get me to play a game in that genre. A bit ago, I was introduced to one of the more recent MMOs to hit the market, Age of Wushu. Age of Wushu is a new 3D MMORPG centered around martial arts and magic. Some of the recent announcements made during E3 have managed to pique my interest even more.
International action film star Jet Li, famous in the West for films such as Lethal Weapon 4, The Expendables, Hero, and more, has entered into a two-year contract to promote Age of Wushu. In China alone, the MMORPG has reached over 20 million players. That’s quite the accomplishment, and hopefully it continues to grow once the game comes to US players.
During E3, Snail Games debuted an early build of its North American version of Age of Wushu. With Age of Wushu, gamers will be able to guide their characters like in no other game, with examples ranging from gliding across water to running along walls and flying across rooftops. On top of great freedom of movement comes the ability to kick, punch, and deliver attacks with amazing speed. Additionally, Snail Games has reported that in the first 12 hours after the launch of the open beta in China, the company obtained another 500,000 players, which resulted in an additional $215,000 in item sales.
