Today Io-Interactive announced that HITMAN, the sixth game in the 17 year long franchise, will be released on December 8th, 2015 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. While the base feature of the game remains intact (performing creative contract hits on high-profile targets), expect to see these takedowns happen in exotic locations from Paris, to Italy, even to Marrakesh. “This is a true HITMAN fantasy, a highly challenging, thinking person’s game where creativity is rewarded…it is your choice whether to use brute force or orchestrate a genuine masterpiece of assassination,” says Christian Elverdam, Creative Director of Io-Interactive.
The studio also announced that HITMAN will be released to the digital audience first, before physical copies are sold. While this seems like an odd decision, studio head of Io-Interactive Hannes Seifert had this to say: “We are building a live, expanding and evolving world of assassination where we continuously develop the game, listening closely to the players as we release new locations, missions and hits as soon as they are ready – where $60 and not a dollar more gets you full access to the experience.”
So far there has been no gameplay shown, however the game was revealed with a CGI trailer, whose link is located below.
