This past Friday, the Gears of War 4 (I just want to call it Gears of Four) Beta became open to press, developers, friends, family and contest winners. Check out our hands on with it here. However, this evening a large mandatory update went live and by large, I mean 6.3 GBs worth of large.
The official Open Beta goes live tomorrow, so seeing an update this large is a little odd. Studio Head of developing Gears of War said in a tweet that the large update does not involve gameplay changes, rather it is a connectivity update to brace for impact when the floodgates open.
“@Infliction_GoW sorry meaning to say that it’s about connectivity and not gameplay changes”

I do have to say it is nice seeing The Coalition understanding how large of an audience will be jumping into the game tomorrow. So the only question that remains is “are we seeing you all in game this week?”
