Rejoice 3DS owners! If you have been jealous of your friends who spent a questionable amount of money on a Wii U because they can play Super Mario Maker, your time is now! Well, at the end of this year, but you know what I mean.
On December 2nd, 2016, Super Mario Maker is making its way to 3DS. Now, the only downside to this is that it isn’t the exact same version; it had to be stripped down slightly to be ported to the handheld. The biggest issue seems to be that you are no longer able to upload courses to the internet to have other players try them out. You can send them to other players via local wireless and Streetpass, but the lack of this feature is slightly disappointing.
On top of the lack of online sharing, there are some assets that were removed for storage space. For example, the Mystery Mushroom is exclusive to the Wii U, so that feature will be missing. It will support levels originally created on Wii U, but not all because of these missing assets.
While it is exciting handheld users will finally get to experience the title, it is disappointing it had to be dumbed down and have key features stripped away. At least there will be 100 built-in courses. Be sure to check it out when it releases December 2nd of this year!
