Here at Marooners’ Rock, we’ve already shown everyone the latest hands-on preview for The Metronomicon, a highly-anticipated rhythm RPG from Puuba and Kasedo Games. We’ve known for a while that the release date is sometime in September, but it’s finally been set in stone: September 29.
The Metronomicon has a gameplay mechanic not unlike Dance Dance Revolution, though without the fancy footwork. Players select heroes from a group of newly-graduated students of “rhythmic combat arts” in order to combat monsters with a little dub in their step (sorrynotsorry). Four of these heroes will take a journey with the power of music on their side, with combat and defense both dependent on the players’ ability to follow the pattern that appears above each character’s head.
Since it’s also a fully-fledged RPG, players must also raise the characters’ stats to allow them to more effectively engage in combat in order to help move the story along. Special items and weapons can’t hurt, and plenty of those will be available along the way.
