In 2015, Riot Games announced that a mutation had come to Summoners Rift and that some bots had been compromised granting them empowered abilities. As the difficulty increases, the Doom bots of Doom gain additional abilities of other League of Legends champions. Now in 2016, the Doom Bots of Doom are returning to League of Legends and Summoners Rift.
In the Doom Bots of Doom, players team up with one another to battle against the Doom Bots of Doom on a Halloween themed Summoners Rift. The Doom Bots of Doom return to lane quickly in order to push it relentlessly in an attempt to make you suffer. Doom Bots don’t bother healing or shopping and the lanes have been cut in half in order to create more chaos.
The Doom Bots of Doom’s towers are invulnerable but if the player’s minions manage to hit the Doom Bots tower, the player will receive a burst of HP and mana in order to gain some sustain. Summoners must try to survive at least until 15 minutes when the Doom Bots of Doom will summon their Evil Overlord. If players can manage to take down the Evil Overlord they win the game. Players who can achieve certain kill goals will receive a boost in power.
In the Gauntlet, players can set a custom difficulty to battle the Doom Bots of Doom. At the beginning of the game, players use the chat command “/votelevel” and then input a number from 1 to 100. As long as three or more players agree on the same difficulty level then the game will proceed with the selected level. If the players do not agree on a set level, after 90 seconds a random difficulty level will be chosen. After the match is complete, the players match history will show what level the player completed as proof of their accomplishment, cowardice, or eternal misery. Riot Games has stated that players who complete some of the highest levels of Doom Bots of Doom will be rewarded with special icons.
