League of Legends World Championship Quarterfinals Results

The League of Legends World Championship is heating up as teams from around the world battle against one another with the hopes of becoming the League of Legends World Champions. This past week the top eight teams from around the world battled it out with the hopes of progressing to the semifinals to compete for the summoner cup. During the League of Legends World Championship quarterfinals, C9, Samsung Galaxy, Skt T1, Rox Tigers, EDG, H2K, Royal Never Give Up, and Albus NoX Luna set their eyes towards the cup with the goal of advancing to the semi-finals.

The final eight competitors flew to Chicago, Illinois in order to see which four teams would survive the League of Legends World Championship quarterfinals and progress to the semifinals at Madison Square Garden on October 21st and 22nd. Although fall is only three weeks upon us, the intense competition during the League of Legends World Championship quarterfinals showed which teams were on a hot streak and what teams froze under the pressure of world competition.

In the first match of the League of Legends World Championship quarterfinals, the last surviving North American team Cloud 9 faced off against the 2014 League of Legends world champions Samsung Galaxy. Sadly, the first match of the quarterfinals was rather one side with Samsung Galaxy destroying the North American dream with a clean 3 to 0 sweep.

During the second match of the quarterfinals, Korean powerhouse and highly favored to win SKT1 battled it out against Chinese favorite Royal Never Give Up. Although SK Telecom T1 ended up taking the match, Royal Never Give Up shocked the world by taking game 1 of the best of five. During game three, SKT T1 top laner Duke outplayed the RNG roster and killed RNG jungler Mixg.

On day three of the League of Legends World Championship quarterfinals, Korean number one seed Rox tigers went to war against China’s number one seed Edward Gaming. After the first two games, it seemed like Rox Tigers may sweep EDG but EDG was able to pull out a win to slow Rox Tigers but in the end, would come up short losing game 4 causing a rematch of the 2015 world championship where SKT T1 will face Rox Tigers in the semifinals.

On the final day of the League of Legends World Championship quarterfinals Russian underdog team Albus Nox Luna prepared to take on the number three seed H2K. After a surprising display during the group stage, Albus Nox took the world by storm and made the world believe that a non-Korean team might actually win the League of Legends World Championship. Sadly it was not meant to be as H2k swept Albus Nox under the rug crushing the world’s quarterfinal bandwagon pick.

The League of Legends semi-finals will take place later this at Madison Square Garden in New York. On October 21st SK Telecom will battle it out against Rox Tigers to see which Korean team will return to the world championship finals. Will it be the two-time world  champions SkT or will Rox get revenge on SKT T1 after an upsetting defeat last year?

On October 22nd H2K will collide with Samsung Galaxy with the goal of battling it out against the winner of SKT T1 vs Rox Tigers. Can H2K beat their korean adverseries and make it to their first League of Legends world championship finals or will Samsung Galaxy get another run at the World Championship?
