Square Enix has shared Kingdom Hearts 2.8 details in their newest trailer. Of course, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 is the last stepping stone to the heavily anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3, marking an end to the confusing numbering system and long list of remakes and re-releases.
At least, aside from the bringing of the two PS3 remakes to the PS4 in March 2017, this is the last step to the game many gamers have been clamoring for years over. Kingdom Hearts 2.8 will offer a full remake of Dream Drop Distance, which was originally released on the 3DS and brought helpful buddies to Sora’s battles. Also included is Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth By Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage, a prequel of sorts to Kingdom Hearts 3 that stars Aqua who is trapped in the Dark World after the events of Birth By Sleep. Following a recent trend, 2.8 will also include a new film, KINGDOM HEARTS χ [chi] Back Cover, which tells the story of the mysterious Foretellers. Needless to say, the lore of Kingdom Hearts gets a bit strenuous to explain or even map out. Luckily its one of the most enjoyable franchises out there. Check out the new trailer below:
Sure the Dark World is a scary place, but Aqua loves to look cute with her new customizable outfit! Hopefully that detail makes it into the Kingdom Hearts 3. It also looks like we will get to see Terra again, while Ventus is still in some sort of coma. The new film looks to be enriching the past of the Kingdom Hearts universe, with more insight to the fabled Keyblade War the likes of which still creates consequences for our heroes. It will be interesting to try the early days of the Kindom Hearts 3 battle system and visuals, while players who have yet to play Dream Drop Distance are in for a treat as it’s one of the better games in the series.
Personally, I have been waiting since I finished Kingdom Hearts 2 on the PS2 back in the day. This final remake and that small snippet will just have to hold us over until Kindom Hearts 3 finally releases. One last stepping stone my friends, just one more.
Players can pick up Kingdom Hearts 2.8 on January 24th 2017. Pre-orders and more details are available on the official website.
