Manga publisher Seven Seas Entertainment, today kicked off its week of new manga acquisition announcements, by revealing that it has acquired the magic and action-filled series, Absolute Duo, for release in North America beginning later this year.
Written by Takumi Hiiragiboshi and featuring the artwork of Shinichirou Nariie, the Absolute Duo manga is an ongoing manga series, based on Takumi Hiiragiboshi’s light novels, which also inspired an anime adaption in 2015. The series follows Tor Kokonoe, who enters Koryo Academy in order to avenge the death of his younger sister. The students of the academy are trained to wield Blaze, weapons that are the manifestations of a person’s soul, and Tor’s Blaze is more unique than most. Instead of a melee weapon, like many of his classmates, Tor wields a shield. Tor’s shield however, makes for the perfect (or at least interesting) pairing, with the silver-haired Julie Sigtuna, a young woman who shares Tor’s thirst for revenge.
Seven Seas Entertainment will be releasing the first volume of Absolute Duo, beginning on Aug. 29, 2017, for $12.99 USA / $14.99 CAN. The anime adaption of the series, is currently published in North America by Funimation Entertainment.
Continuing its first day of announcements, Seven Seas has also revealed the acquisition of Mogeko’s all-ages magical adventure, Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea. The series is based on the video game of the same name, and follows Wadanohara, a young witch that has just returned from across the ocean, searching for clues to lost memories. Having returned home, she begins a new adventure, to ensure the safety of the ocean kingdom she calls home, as a mysterious figure from her past arrives and demands that she leave her ocean home forever.
Seven Seas has been providing the official English translation of the series, since it began digital publication in 2015. The manga will be released in print, as one complete omnibus edition, along with single edition eBooks made available through a variety of platforms. Manga fans can expect to see the title available on July 4, 2017, for $15.99 USA / $17.99 CAN.
To close out the first day of new license announcements, Seven Seas has also confirmed that it has acquired Hatsune Miku Presents: Hachune Miku’s Everday Vocaloid Paradise, from Ontama. The full-color comic series, is the first fan creation to receive official recognition from within the Vocaloid world, and follows Hachune Miku, the small and spirited spin-off character of Hatsune Miku, as she and her friends go on various adventures in a collection of comedic shorts.
The series will be released as single volume, full-color editions, with the first volume making its debut on Oct. 17, 2017 for $14.99 USA / $16.99 CAN.
