Originally released in 2011 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 was a fan favorite. Rocking a solid 4/5 on most review sites, it was beloved. However, it was mysteriously taken down digital stores in 2013. Fearing the worst, many gave up hope in ever seeing the game again. Until it was re-released in December for the PlayStation 4. This left two thirds of the powerhouse consoles wondering when they could get back into the game. Until today.
Capcom officially announced today that Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 would be releasing for the Xbox One and Windows PC via Steam on March 7th. The digital release will be $24.99, with a limited edition physical copy coming exclusively to GameStop and EB games, for $29.99.
Many would wonder why the physical is a “limited edition.” The main reason: a special comic. The comic will tell the story of the universes coming together and clashing. It will be 10 full pages of action, and will feature art from many comic veterans. These would include Sean Chen and Gerardo Sandoval. (Iron Man/Nova and Venom/The New Avengers, respectively)
While it isn’t a new Marvel vs. Capcom, it will open up a new group of gamers (more than likely me included) to this exciting clash of giants, (Let’s be honest. Who doesn’t want to play as Frank West? He’s covered wars, y’know?) leading up to the new entry in this series Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, coming later this year.
What do you all think? Is it nice that we are getting a chance to go back to the good memories some may have of this series right before the new release, or is this a desperate money grab like some remakes have been recently? Let us know down below.
