Last year at PAX East, one of my favorite games of the show was a rhythm hell violence game called Thumper. This show favorite carried over to one of my favorite full titles of the year, where I couldn’t put the game down while reviewing it. My only qualm was that it was for PC, and my gaming laptop couldn’t run it perfectly. (Yes I know it is also out for PS4, but I don’t have one.) This Spring, Drool is going to up the amount of ways to play.
In just a few months, fan favorite Thumper will be coming out for the Xbox One, as well as the recently launched Nintendo Switch. For the Xbox One version, we are merely given the information that it will have the features and graphical quality of the other platforms, but we have a bit more juicy information on the Switch version that will make you…..drool.
Nintendo’s newest venture, the Switch, has been a smash hit. If you have one, more than likely you love it; if you don’t, then you are checking in with local stores to get one from the second shipment. When I heard Thumper is coming to the Switch, I literally said I have to buy it, just because my thoughts on improvements are actually what’s coming. The Switch has what’s called HD rumble. This rumble system allows the controller to vibrate in a way never before experienced. Since this game is so focused on Rhythm and “feeling,” Drool is fully utilizing HD rumble, so you can “feel every pulsing hit, scrape, pound and crash. We’re calling it rumble violence.” I know how brutal and unforgiving Thumper can be, so I’m excited to see how the rumble adds to the title.
Also announced, the Thumper red vinyl soundtrack is now available for pre-order. Only 1000 are being released, so if you want to get one (it also has a digital download) be sure to pre-order HERE.
No final released date has been announced for the two new versions, but they will be coming in Q2 of 2017. This means we only have a couple months to wait. Get ready to smash, Switchers and Xboxers!
