Quest for the Code is an oddity of a game that sits very close to my heart and relates to something that has always been pretty important to me. Asthma, more specifically what happens during an attack and how to manage it effectively. It’s an educational game centered around this idea, and packed around it is an assortment of characters and a plot that MST3K would have had a blast with. I was given this game by my school nurse shortly after being officially diagnosed with asthma.
At that point in time I was still pretty afraid of it all since I didn’t really understand it. What came next was a very determined 10 yo me conquering this game and walking away with a greater understanding of his own life, and a couple of nightmares fueled by the games creepy CG. As weird as the game is with its Asthma Trigger based villains and Cuba Gooding Jr. taking the journey with you a lot of what I know about asthma comes from playing Quest for the Code. They did update the game and make it available to play in your web browser, so go check it out or share it with someone you know who may need it!

This episode was really fun to make, Lil’ Gamer is getting older and more of her personality is starting to show through when we shoot. This is exciting to see as her father, hopefully you, the audience, thinks so too! She is able to distract and make me laugh so easily this time around, so I hope you enjoy those bits. I also had fun writing all of the air and breath related puns (Dad joke game was strong this episode!) I won’t keep you waiting any longer, enjoy the episode!
