With a release in less than a week, Square Enix today released an extended gameplay video for PlatinumGames’ NieR: Automata, which puts a focus on some of the game’s systems.
The new video can be found below, and showcases a variety of RPG elements that gamers can expect to see when the action-RPG releases. Elements that are shown in the video include the “Reliquary” system, which lets players return to where their characters were defeated in order to gain additional buffs, or even an ally to assist in their battle; the “Riding” system, that sees players riding on boars and other wildlife, while also using them to attack; as well as the fishing minigame.
Additionally, viewers will get a glimpse at the “Quest Hub,” the “Plug-in-Chip” system, that will increase abilities and add skills by installing chips into your character’s android body, and the 17 different “Pod Skills.” Pods, your mini-robot companions, hover and can be thrown distances to allow access to additional areas, while also being programmable with a variety of offensive and defensive skills, including lasers and hammers. Using up to three Pods at a time, players can charge their skills, making them up to three times as strong.
Square Enix will release NieR: Automata for the PlayStation 4 in North America, beginning on Mar. 7, 2017. A PC release, via Steam, is also slated for 2017. To learn more about the game, you can visit the official site.
