Sentai Filmworks today announced that it has acquired the two-episode TV special, The Dragon Dentist, for release in North America.
The Dragon Dentist two-part special, is produced by Studio khara, led by Hideaki Anno, the director of Evangelion. It is based on a seven-minute ONA (original net animation), that premiered at the 2014 Animator Expo showcase. The two-part special premiered in February of 2017.
The anime follows Nonoko, a young woman who has been assigned to care for the teeth of the guardian dragon of her country. One day, she discovers an enemy soldier resurrected from the inside of a dragon’s tooth, something that legends say foretell disaster.
Sentai Filmworks will release The Dragon Dentist through select digital outlets soon, and a home video release is expected to follow.
