I’m going to need a minute to gather myself after watching the first trailer for the next entry in the legendary Star Wars saga.
Yes, at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Director Rian Johnson gave us our first look at Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Our first two glimpses come in the form of a teaser trailer and a poster. We will start with the trailer and I implore you to watch a few hundred times before continuing below.
Welcome back.
We get so much from this trailer, but not enough to give away what is actually happening in the movie. From seeing our first glimpses of Luke and Rey training together, to bases being exploded, to potentially a book from Jedi history far in the past, there is a lot to unfold. We may even get a flashback to when Kylo and the Knights of Ren destroyed Luke’s Jedi academy. While we will have to wait until December 15th to see the whole story, it’s great to get our first look.
In addition to the trailer, The Last Jedi panel also gave us the first poster for Episode VIII.
Rey is clearly the focal point, with Luke and Kylo Ren on either side of her lightsaber. The blade changes from blue to red, so there may be some Light and Dark Side conflict for Rey.
While we get some answers, there are still so many questions out there. What did you think of the trailer and poster? Let’s hear your theories and thoughts on what will undoubtedly be one of the biggest movie releases of the year!
For all things Star Wars, stay tuned to Marooner’s Rock.
