Yesterday afternoon during the Destiny 2 livestream, Activision and Bungie showed the world what was to come next to the world of Destiny. During the gameplay premiere live stream, the world got to see what was in store for guardians. Players do not have to wait much longer for additional information regarding Destiny 2. At E3 2017, Bungie will show gamers new features that we not shown during the live stream. On top of the world gameplay trailer, Bungie and Activision showed off new and existing partnerships for Destiny 2’s merchandise.
In August, Guardians will be able to purchase Funko Pop! Vinyl figures of their favorite Destiny’s story characters. Gamers can collect iconic characters from the Destiny 2 universe including Cayde-6, Ikora Rey, and Commander Zavala with other supporting characters at select retailers. At the moment there is no word as to who the other characters might be but it would not be surprising to see the Speaker, Xur, and maybe some of the enemies from the first destiny as Pop! Vinyls.
With the announcement that Destiny 2 will be available on PC, comes a well thought out partnership opportunity between Bungie and Razer that will offer a plethora of featured gaming peripherals. PC gamers around the world can purchase one or all of these Destiny 2 themed Razor products: the Razer Ornata Chroma keyboard, the Razer ManO’ War Tournament Edition headset, the Razer DeathAdder Elite mouse, and the Razer Goliathus Speed mouse mat.
On top of the huge Funko Pop! and Razor partnership, Bungie also announced that they had made other licensee partnerships with a variety of other retailers include, BioWorld (Apparel), KontrolFreek (Performance Thumbsticks for Gaming Controllers), Insight Editions (Art Books, Journals and Poster Books), Mattel – MEGA Construx (Construction Sets), McFarlane Toys (Action Figures and Collectibles), Think Geek (Accessories and Collectibles), ThreeA (Collectible Figures), and RockLove (Jewelry).
With the success of the first Destiny, it comes as no surprise that Bungie and Activision would look to capitalize on the next installment in the franchise. Destiny 2‘s merchandising program is a sign of Bungie’ eagerness to continue to grow and evolve the franchise’s legacy while offering consumers new and exciting extensions to the universe beyond console and PC. Although Bungie is currently determined to create merchandise in what they believe to be key categories, (Apparel, Electronics, and Accessories) new opportunities may arise within the upcoming months for other forms of merchandise.
Guardians can check out the new merchandise at it releases by heading over to the Bungie store at http://bungiestore.com. The new merchandise sounds like it will add another layer to the world of Destiny but only time will tell.
