Has A Recent Teaser Revealed Project Scorpio’s Release Date?

With E3 less than a week away, developers and publishers have been teasing and even showcasing what will be shown at the upcoming show. Microsoft is no different, and they have been posting teaser videos that are meant to hype and excite its fans for the unveiling of their Project Scorpio. While we know some features of the upcoming “super Xbox One” console, most of the details are shrouded in mystery. However, some of these recent videos may have some hidden messages in them that may point to a potential release date.

Discovered by Twitter user XboxInGame and reported by WindowsCentral, two teasers shared by Xbox have more in them than meets the eye. In the first video, when they show fans cheering in front of a stage, presumably the Xbox E3 Press Conference, there are letters and numbers on the stage that read, “X10S101-317” or “X105101-317”. The theory posited by WindowsCentral says that the “X10S/X105” could be hinting at the model number of Project Scorpio, while the “101317” could be pointing to the potential release date. Friday, October 13th, 2017, could be the launch of this new system if this is any indication, and there is precedent as Microsoft did Launch the Xbox One on a Friday as well. Now, this is all rumor and speculation, and seems a bit too easy, but this is what the excitement of the lead up to E3 is all about!

In another video, we are shown a quick view of a Ferris Wheel and on the bottom left, we see numbers on a tent reading, “6>4”. Now, this is also up for debate, but considering Project Scorpio touts 6 teraflops of power, and the PlayStation 4 Pro is sitting just over 4 teraflops, this could be a jab at its competition. A little fun to be had before the real battle begins next week.

These all must be taken with a grain of salt, but Microsoft and Xbox are very smart and deliberate in their marketing, so there is undoubtedly some meaning behind these, even if only to foster excitement for their upcoming show. All we know for certain is that, rumors true or otherwise, we will know the truth when the Xbox E3 Press Conference kicks off on Sunday, June 11th, 2017, at 2pm PT/5pm ET.
