Yesterday afternoon in celebration of San Diego Comic Con, Telltale games announced that a sequel to Batman: The Telltale Series was closer to release than some might expect. The second season of the acclaimed adventure looks to build on the narrative universe established in ‘Batman: The Telltale Series. Batman The Enemy Within will introduce the player to new enemies while reuniting Bruce Wayne with a few familiar faces.
Earlier this week, Telltale games took to Youtube to announce The Wolf Among Us Season 2, The Walking Dead: The Final Chapter, and Batman The Enemy Within The Telltale Series. Batman The Enemy Within will introduce players to a new five-part episodic game series that continues after the events of the first game.
In the second season, both Bruce Wayne and Batman will be forced into precarious positions. The Caped Crusader must deal with the return of The Riddler who aims to terrorize Gotham City. Although his puzzles may be gruesome, they merely foreshadow an even greater crisis coming to Gotham City. With the arrival of a ruthless federal agent and the return of a still nascent Joker, Batman must walk cautiously with uneasy alliances, while Bruce Wayne has his hands full with a series of perilous deceptions.
Batman The Enemy Within’s rendition of Gotham City was created to look like a living, breathing comic book. Telltale’s vision of Batman features an award-winning cast of talent including Troy Baker, who returns to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne, as well as Anthony Ingruber, who will reprise his fresh take on ‘John Doe,’ better known to fans as The Joker. Who will take up the mantle of Edward Nigma aka The Riddler?
Batman The Enemy Within will be accessible to both returning fans and newcomers alike. Upon starting the new chapter, players can choose where to import their saves from the first season of Batman: The Telltale Series or start fresh. Like many of newer Telltale games, Batman The Enemy Within will feature the multiplayer ‘Crowd Play’ feature, which allows others to participate in the adventure and decide the direction the story takes by using any mobile device with online capability.
Batman: The Enemy Within Episode one entitled ‘The Enigma,’ will be available to download starting August 8th, 2017, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android-based devices. The series will be available to purchase at retailers this October for Xbox One and PlayStation 4; The physical disc will include the first episode of Batman The Enemy Within as well the season pass so players can access the following episodes as they release throughout the year.
