Ubisoft and Square Enix have just revealed that the worlds of Assassin’s Creed and Final Fantasy XV will be colliding when the newest DLC for Final Fantasy XV, Assassin’s Festival, drops later this month. On August 30th, FFXV players who have collected the Moogle Chocobo Carnival event’s Dream Egg will receive an Assassin’s outfit for Noctis. On August 31st, the day after, the Assassin’s Festival will go live and the town of Lestalium will transform. There will be new activities, themed items, and much more, including another Assassin’s Creed outfit, and even the ability to use some abilities and movesets from the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
From the UbiBlog post announcing the collaboration, it was revealed that talks of this DLC started almost three years ago at the Tokyo Gaming Show when both parties expressed admiration for each other’s work. Also, the post mentions to check out the Final Fantasy XV trailer from November of last year, the Assassin’s Creed Origins announcement trailer, and the Assassin’s Creed Origins Gamescom trailer to spot some easter eggs that may have hinted at this partnership long before today.
There is no mention if Assassin’s Creed Origins will have any Final Fantasy XV themed items or gear, but considering the effort seemingly put in for the Assassin’s Festival, I wouldn’t doubt that we may be seeing more of this most interesting of crossovers.
