The commentary for NBA 2K18 just got a little more star-power as Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett are both joining 2K18 as guest commentators. This feature was introduced last year with Chris Webber, Steve Smith, Brent Barry, and Doris Burke, and this year brings two players that some may consider to be the best to ever play the game of basketball. Kobe and Kevin will independently join the main analysts, Kevin Harlan and Greg Anthony, depending on the game match-ups being played.
For those unfamiliar, Kevin Garnett played 21 seasons in the NBA and was drafted out of high school in 1995 by the Minnesota Timberwolves. After twelve seasons with the Timberwolves, in which he lead them to eight consecutive playoff appearances and won NBA MVP, he joined the Boston Celtics and in his first year finally won a NBA Championship. Garnett retired in 2016 and has had a few hosting jobs, including a weekly TNT show called Area 21.
As for Kobe Bryant, he played 20 years with the Los Angeles Lakers and came right out of High School in 1996. In his legendary career he won five NBA championships, was an 18-time All-Star, 15-time member of the All-NBA Team, 12-time member of the All-Defensive team, and won league MVP in 2008. Kobe retired after the 2015-2016 season and also has some broadcasting experience as he helped ABC with some of their NBA broadcasts during last season.
Watch the trailer below to see how well these retired players fare in 2K18 and also get a glimpse of cover-athlete Kyrie Irving in his new Boston Celtics garb, which, as a Cleveland-native, makes me very sad.
