Square Enix has just announced that a full 3D remake of Secret of Mana will be arriving on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC on February 15th, 2018. This remake will have full voice-over, a newly arranged musical score and various gameplay improvements.
Originally released in August of 1993 as Seiken Densetsu 2 on the Super Famicom in Japan, Secret of Mana was released a couple months later in North America for the SNES and brought with it a fantastic JRPG adventure that used a real-time battle system and a power bar mechanic. The game even had cooperative multiplayer that 4Gamer reports will indeed be in this remake, but will allow online multiplayer on PS4 and PC, and local on the Vita.
Secret of Mana Remake will also be getting a limited edition bundle in Japan that includes the game, artbook, soundtrack, and mini-figures. No word on if North America will receive this bundle, but we will update you as more news comes to light. However, if you pre-order from the PlayStation Store, you will receive a “Moogle Suit” for Randi, Primm and Popoi, a “Tiger Two-Piece” for Primm a “Tiger Suit” for Randi and Popoi, and three PlayStation Network avatars. For those purchasing through Steam, if you purchase the day 1 edition within one week of launch, you will receive the above costumes, as well as a downloadable wallpaper.
