Noctis Joins Final Fantasy Dissidia NT

Noctis is coming to Dissidia NT

Not everything developed in the wake of Final Fantasy XV‘s release is as painful as A New Empire. Noctis is going to be a fighter in the upcoming fighting game Dissidia NT on the PS4, which will be launching in North America and Europe on January 30th. The pretty boy prince will carry over all of his iconic moves and weapons, fitting nicely in the current roster that spans most of the Final Fantasy legacy.

The new trailer not only reveals Noctis and the release date, but also shows off battles against massive Summon entities. Summoned creatures have always been one of my favorite aspects of the Final Fantasy series. I constantly compare designs and pick them apart to trace their inspirations. Being able to go toe-to-toe with them as an iconic character is pretty damn cool.

Dissidia NT recently had some beta tests and while I didn’t get the chance to play them myself, I did hear about it from friends. Reaction has been solid for the most part and it’s awesome that this series is finally moving away from handhelds. Will it catch on as a highly competitive fighter like Street Fighter or Injustice? Probably not, but for Final Fantasy fans it’s making those dream match-ups a reality. Square Enix certainly understands their history and loves to celebrate it; it’s an aspect of the company I have always loved.

Not going to lie, I love Ramza being added, but I would kill to have Agrias from the Tactics series instead. Also, I still want one of those arcade cabinets, even if it is in Japanese.

Final Fantasy Dissidia NT is coming to PS4 on January 30th. More information can be found on the official website.
