PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS Reaches 10 Million Units Sold

PUBG

If you keep up with the gaming world, which you probably do if you’re reading this, then you know how massive PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS has become since it’s Early Access release this past March. Chances are also good that you may be part of this success as the game has reached a huge milestone having sold over 10 million copies.

PUBG, as it’s commonly called, also recently set a record for peak concurrent users with over 970,000 playing at once, bolstered by the reception at the PUBG Invitational at Gamescom 2017. During the four day tournament:

  • 92 players from 19 countries competing in four PUBG modes (solo, duo, duo-fps, and squad)
  • The tournament was broadcast across nine different streaming platforms including Mixer, Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, and more
  • Peak viewership on Twitch official channels was 536,000 for the solo mode competition

There was also a charity donation that is currently being finalized with an announcement to come soon.

It is amazing and gratifying to see the love and support the passionate fans have shown to PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS. Watching the thrilling moments during the PUBG Invitational with the great feedback from viewers is a realization of the continuing popularity of PUBG and our team is working diligently to bring a solid gameplay experience for full launch on the PC and Xbox One Game Preview versions later this year.

If you have not played or even seen PUBG in action, I strongly suggest you check it out. 100 combatants get dropped on an island, are forced to scavenge for weapons, and ultimately fight to the death with the last man standing winning nothing but a chicken dinner and the satisfaction of surviving the day.

I've been gaming for as long as a can remember. While I'm primarily interested in cinematic story driven games, I do believe the heart of the industry is the indie game. Other than games, I'm passionate about soccer, occasionally stream on Twitch, and I'm in school for Web Development.
