Farming fans, rejoice! Stardew Valley for the Nintendo Switch has been approved and is ready to make its way to Nintendo’s newest console. Finn Brice, CEO of the game’s publisher Chucklefish, Tweeted out the news and also stated that they are finalizing the release date. It’s important to note that in August, Chucklefish stated that they don’t announce release dates until they are “quite close to launch” and they are “95% certain that nothing will go terribly terribly wrong.” This should be great news for those who have been waiting for this particular version of the game.
Originally released in February 2016 for PC, Stardew Valley is a game that is quite simply a love letter to the Harvest Moon series. What may be most fascinating is that it was developed by one man, Eric Barone. His dream was to create a game in this genre, but make it the version that he’s always wanted. After four years and over one million sold copies later, its safe to say that his dream has come true.
Since Stardew Valley’s launch, it has arrived on Mac, Linus, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, but many have been waiting for the Nintendo Switch version after it was announced in the February Nintendo Nindies Showcase. Not only will the Switch be a great place to play Stardew Valley as you will be able to take it anywhere, but it will also be the first console to receive multiplayer. While PC, Mac, and Linux will get it first in early 2018, the update for consoles will arrive not too much longer after that.
