Nintendo has just announced that we will be treated with a Nintendo Direct tomorrow, October 24th, at 11pm ET/8pm PT that will be focused solely on the upcoming mobile title from the ever popular Animal Crossing franchise. As with every Nintendo Direct announcement, there was no further information given besides that it will last around 15 minutes and will only focus on this title.
Originally announced in April of 2016 alongside a Fire Emblem mobile title that would later become known and released as Fire Emblem Heroes on February 2nd, 2017, the Animal Crossing mobile title will connect somehow to at least one of the Animal Crossing games for Nintendo’s gaming systems. This connection will hopefully be in place by the time Animal Crossing inevitably arrives on the Nintendo Switch.
This Animal Crossing title will be the fourth mobile title from Nintendo, which Miitomo kicked off in March of 2016. Super Mario Run was the second title and was released on iOS on December 15th, 2016 and is a personal favorite of mine. As mentioned before, Fire Emblem Heroes was in early 2017, and hopefully we will find out the release date of the Animal Crossing title tomorrow.
Animal Crossing began back in 2001 on Nintendo 64 in Japan and was enhanced and released on the GameCube later that year. The GameCube version was localized and released in North America in September of 2002. Many other games and apps have been released since then, with the most recent being the Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival for the Wii U that is a virtual board game that is very similar to the Mario Party Series.
Once again, the Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct will be arriving tomorrow at 11pm ET/8pm PT and you can watch it on Nintendo’s YouTube channel, their Twitch channel, or their homepage.
